Itinerary

Welcome to Mongolia! Whenever, your international flight lands in the city airport, you will be transferred to the hotel in Ulaanbaatar.

After breakfast, embark on a journey to Mini Gobi Elsen tasarkhai - the stunning sand dunes, dotted with rare shrubs such as willow, elm, and dogwood, alongside a small forest near a river. Upon arrival, you'll have the opportunity to visit a local camel herder family, immerse yourself in their unique nomadic lifestyle, and explore the breathtaking landscape on camelback.

After breakfast, we continue to Kharkhorin, a charming village and one of Mongolia’s key tourist destinations. Once the ancient capital of the Mongol Empire, Kharkhorin played a pivotal role in the history of the Silk Road. Our first stop is the Karakorum Museum, where you'll gain valuable insights into Mongolia’s rich history. Following that, we’ll explore Buddhist Monastery complex of Erdenezuu. After lunch, we will head to the archaeological site of Karabalgasun (Ordu Baliq) which showcases the remains of city walls, palaces, temples, and other buildings, offering significant insights into the Uyghur civilization. After enjoy your breakfast, we will head to famous Tsenkher hot spring that reaches +86.5"C and its flow rate is 10 liters per second. Curative water and amazing nature featured by wooded mountains make this an excellent place for relaxing in hot spring. In the afternoon, we will visit nomad family – experience nomadic life and enjoy tasting dairy products.

At 8 AM, we begin our drive to the Khorgo extinct volcano, located 2,240 meters (1.39 miles) above sea level. Once active over 8,000 years ago, this impressive volcano offers stunning views of the surrounding landscape. From there, we continue our journey to the breathtaking Terkhiin Tsagaan Lake, surrounded by lush forests, mountains, and abundant wildlife, creating a perfect natural setting.

After breakfast, we will depart for Uliastai, the capital of Zavkhan province and one of the oldest towns in Mongolia, founded in 1733. Nestled between high mountains, Uliastai is surrounded by forests and rivers, making it one of the most scenic provincial centers. On arrival, we will check into a local hotel or tourist ger camp. In the afternoon, we will visit the Zavkhan Museum, which showcases the history, culture, and traditional lifestyle of the region. Walk around the town to see local life, and take a leisurely stroll along the Chigestei River, which flows through Uliastai.

After breakfast time, we will drive to Ulaagch Khar Lake. This lake, hidden between high mountains lake, has unique distinction. It’s west shore met rolling sands dunes of Bor Khyar Sands that created sand meets waters. We will do some hiking on the sands and try fishing.

After breakfast time, we will drive to Mukhart River (80 km – 2 hours on the dirt road). On the way, we will see Senjit Rock which is tall arch rock located on the top of mountain with brief taking view. The Mukhart River in the Bor Kyar Sand Dune emerges from a half crater foot of the 400 m tall sand dune together to create the magnificent oasis and runs for a few miles then disappears beneath the sands. The river valley has several species of trees and bushes. After lunch, we will hike along the river valley and climb to the top of the dunes for stunning desert scenery. In the late afternoon, we drive further west to reach Khyargas Lake, one of Mongolia’s most beautiful lakes, famous for its mix of rocky cliffs and sandy shores. Upon arrival, we will explore the Khetsuu Khad rock formation and capture the lake’s evening beauty before settling in at a nearby tourist camp.

After breakfast, we will start a long drive westwards across the rugged and stunning landscapes of western Mongolia. Passing through Khovd province, a region known for its multicultural heritage and dramatic steppe–mountain scenery, we will stop for breaks and short photo opportunities along the way. By evening, we will arrive in Ulgii town, the capital of Bayan-Ölgii province and the cultural heart of Mongolia’s Kazakh ethnic minority. Ulgii is well known for its Kazakh traditions, golden eagle hunters, and unique cultural identity. Depending on arrival time, we may take a short city walk to explore the local market or mosque.

With all camping and cooking gear already packed and ready, we’ll set off for the northern part of the National Park, the beautiful Oigor Valley. By late afternoon, we’ll arrive and settle into traditional Kazakh yurts. As the sun sets over the snow-capped Altai Mountains, enjoy a hearty dinner with you host family and soak in the tranquility of this untouched wilderness.

This morning we set out for Altai Tavan Bogd which means “The Holy Fivereferring to Mongolia’s five highest peaks, including majestic Mount Huiten at 4,374 meters above sea level. All are permanently snowcapped, creating a breathtaking panorama. We will drive close to the Presidential Ovoo ritual site. before beginning our hike to the Potanin Glacier — one of Central Asia’s largest. After exploring, we’ll hike back to President’s Hill for a sweeping view of the Altai Mountains. In the late afternoon, we’ll return to the warm hospitality of a Kazakh nomadic family’s home.

We will continue our journey to the Khoton and Khurgan lakes which is twin lakes in the southern part of the national park. This picturesque region, known as Sirgaly (“beautiful” in Kazakh), is a favorite summer pasture for local nomads. On the way, we’ll stop at the striking White River, which flows from the Potanin Glacier. Its milky color comes from mineral-rich glacial silt. By the afternoon, we’ll arrive at the shores of Khoton Lake, giving you time to relax and fully enjoy this serene and picturesque environment.

After relaxing breakfast, We’ll continue to cross the bridge over the channel and drive to Baga Turgen Waterfall. where a scenic hike awaits. The trail winds through lush alpine meadows, pristine pine forests, and dramatic mountain landscapes, offering stunning views of the surrounding Altai peaks. The waterfall cascades 36 meters in two tiers, creating a serene, mist-filled basin — a perfect spot to pause, soak in the beauty, and experience Mongolia’s pristine wilderness up close.

Today we’ll drive back to Olgii, passing Lake Khar Nuur and Sagsai Village along the way (about 6 hours, 180 km). On the way, we’ll meet eagle hunters and experience the fascinating culture of the Kazakh nomads. You’ll witness the ancient art of eagle falconry, enjoy traditional Kazakh cuisine, and learn about their way of life. Once in Olgii, we’ll visit a Nairamdal hill overlooking the town, stop by local handicraft shops, and explore the Bazaar. In the evening, we’ll stay at a local tourist camp and enjoy a small folk music concert, featuring traditional instruments and songs.

Early this morning, transfer to the local airport for a morning flight to Ulaanbaatar. Upon arrival we will visit to Sukhbaatar square which lies at the heart of the city surrounded by important buildings such as the government palace, banks and theaters, and post office. Evening is dedicate to visiting Cultural folk show concert in the city, which is featuring traditional performances by singers, dancers, and contortionists. It’s a great chance to hear Khöömii (throat singing) and see some fabulous costumes.

As your memorable trip comes to end, then you will be transferred to the airport for your flight to your next destination or home.

🍽️ Meals in Mongolia Tours

Most of our Mongolia tour packages include full-board meals — breakfast, lunch, and dinner. In Ulaanbaatar, lunches or dinners are served at popular local restaurants, giving you the opportunity to experience genuine Mongolian cuisine and the country’s unique dining culture. At tourist ger camps, lunches and dinners are pre-arranged and include 3–4 courses — soup and/or salad, main dish, dessert, and bottled water. If your itinerary includes stops at local roadside restaurants, you’ll be able to choose meals directly from the menu. In Ulaanbaatar, a wider range of cuisines — including Korean, Japanese, and Chinese dishes — is available upon request.

Special Diets: Vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free meals are available with advance notice.
