Khyargas Lake is a large saline lake located in the Great Lakes Depression of Uvs Province, western Mongolia. Situated at an elevation of 1,028 meters above sea level, it stretches 75 km in length and 31 km in width, making it one of Mongolia’s four largest lakes, with a surface area exceeding 1,000 km².
It is a tectonic lake with no outflow, which is why its waters are rich in mineral salts and remain slightly saline. Khyargas is considered the second most important lake in western Mongolia, following Uvs Lake.
