The Legend of Ugii Lake

Ugii Lake is said to have been created from the tears of Ogii, a nobleman’s daughter, who fell in love with a local horseman. Her father forbade their union, and when the young horseman was captured, he promised:

"I will become Avzaga Khairkhan Mountain in my homeland, and I will give you a beautiful lake."

Ogii’s tears formed the lake, and the mist rising from Ugii Lake is believed to connect her to Avzaga Mountain. Locals say the lake is guarded by a woman’s spirit, and women bathing in the lake may face misfortune. Sacred sites nearby are worshiped to honor Ogii’s love.
