Itinerary

Whenever your international flight lands in city airport, you will be transferred to the hotel in Ulaanbaatar. Free at leisure for the rest of the day. You may need some time to relax and recover from the long-distance flight or possibly from jet-lag. If you feel like going for a walk and checking out places nearby, feel free to ask from your hotel reception for recommendations.

In the morning, your private guide and driver pick you up and head to Kharkhorin, a small village, and one of the country's major tourist destinations. Historically known as Karakorum, which was an ancient capital of the Mongol Empire and the most important city in the history of the Silk Road, was founded by Genghis Khan in 1220. On arrival, we will visit the museum of Karakorum and learn more about Mongolian history. Continue the guided tour to the magnificent and oldest Buddhist Monastery complex of Erdenezuu, built in the 16th century, with 108 Buddhist stupas. Here you can listen to monks chanting of Buddhist sutras. Check-in a good local hotel and dinner is at your hotel.

Depart for Elsen Tasarkhai - the beautiful sand dunes are covered with rare bushes shrubs such as willow, elm, and dogwood, and a small forest near a river. It is very unique to see this type of ecosystem, a combination of mountains, forests, steppes, and sand dunes in one location. There, we will visit a local camel herder family in their Ger, and explore their unique nomadic lifestyle. Have a local meal for lunch at the nomad family. And you will discover this magnificent place on camelback. Afterward, return to the city and transferred to the hotel.

At 8.00 am, depart for Terelj National Park. the nearest and the most breathtaking sightseeing from the capital Ulaanbaatar. En route, you will visit “Genghis Khan Statue Complex” which is currently the biggest (40m high) equestrian statue in the world. You can go inside and enjoy museums, and souvenir shops. Following lunch, we will explore the national park and see Turtle Rock - the symbol of the National Park. You can climb on the rock if you want, Also, visit the Ariyabal meditation temple - Once you reach the temple and stand on the top of the hill, you will be amused by the whole park view. Dinner and overnight at the hotel in the national park.

At 9 am, you will meet with your private tour guide and driver at your hotel lobby and then the city tour starts with visiting the largest glorious Gandan monastery and capturing the monks’ daily rituals. After lunch at a good local restaurant, visit Sukhbaatar square which lies at the heart of the city. The Mongolian Parliament Building stands in the north of the square, displaying an astonishing sight of Genghis Khaan and his warriors’ sculptures.

Continue to visit the Museum of Mongolian National History – It provides an excellent overview of the history and culture of Mongols from prehistory to the contemporary era.  The evening is dedicated to visiting the “Folklore show”. It’s a great chance to hear Khöömii (throat singing) and amazing contortion.

🍽️ Meals in Mongolia Tours

Most of our Mongolia tour packages include full-board meals — breakfast, lunch, and dinner. In Ulaanbaatar, lunches or dinners are served at popular local restaurants, giving you the opportunity to experience genuine Mongolian cuisine and the country’s unique dining culture. At tourist ger camps, lunches and dinners are pre-arranged and include 3–4 courses — soup and/or salad, main dish, dessert, and bottled water. If your itinerary includes stops at local roadside restaurants, you’ll be able to choose meals directly from the menu. In Ulaanbaatar, a wider range of cuisines — including Korean, Japanese, and Chinese dishes — is available upon request.

Special Diets: Vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free meals are available with advance notice.

Winter Tours
