Itinerary

Arrive in Ulaanbaatar, the capital city of Mongolia at . After clear customs and claim your luggage, you will be greeted by your private tour guide & driver at the exit and then transferred to your hotel. After check-in, free at leisure for the rest of the day to refresh yourself from jet lag.

Today, we’ll immerse ourselves in the vibrant energy of the Naadam Festival, Mongolia’s most iconic celebration and national holiday. This special photo tour offers you a chance to document the essence of Mongolian culture through your lens — from powerful athletes to colorful costumes and joyful local faces.

Tour Highlights:

• 08:00 AM – Hotel Pick-up & Arrival at Naadam Stadium

Meet your tour guide in the hotel lobby and head to the central stadium.

• Ankle-Bone Shooting Competition

Begin your day photographing the intricate ankle-bone shooting (shagai) contest — a great chance for close-up portraits and detailed cultural shots.

• Archery Competition

Move outside to the archery range, where archers in traditional attire draw their bows against bright Mongolian backdrops. Ideal for action shots and dynamic compositions.

• 11:00 AM – The Opening Ceremony

Capture the grandeur as the “Nine White Banners” are carried from Government Palace and placed in the stadium — a symbolic and visually stunning moment. The colorful parade of dancers, athletes, and musicians provides incredible photo opportunities.

• Wrestling Tournament

After the ceremony, photograph Mongolian wrestling — strength, tradition, and ritual gestures.

After breakfast, we drive an hour out of the city to Khui Doloon Khudag, the horse racing field of the Naadam Festival, where hundreds of horses compete across the steppe. Capture the racing horses, young jockeys in colorful costumes, and the cheering local crowds — a thrilling and unforgettable photography moment.

Then continue our journey to the Mini Gobi (Elsen Tasarkhai) sand dunes, an extraordinary landscape blending mountains, forests, grasslands, and desert dunes in one frame. The late afternoon light offers a perfect setting for landscape photography and silhouettes of camels crossing the sand.

Rise early for a sunrise photo shoot at Mini Gobi. Capture the golden light over the dunes, camels resting in the misty morning, and the herder family beginning their day.

After breakfast, continue to Karakorum, the ancient capital of the Mongol Empire and a historical hub of the Silk Road. In the afternoon, photograph the magnificent Erdene Zuu Monastery, Mongolia’s oldest Buddhist monastery. Capture monks in prayer, ancient stupas, and architectural details framed by vast steppe backdrops — perfect for cultural storytelling photography.

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner.

This morning we’ll visit a horse-herding nomad family and photograph horse-related activities, such as milking mares, training young horses, or galloping across the open plains. Capture authentic moments of nomadic life and the deep bond between Mongolians and their horses.

🍽️ Meals in Mongolia Tours

Most of our Mongolia tour packages include full-board meals — breakfast, lunch, and dinner. In Ulaanbaatar, lunches or dinners are served at popular local restaurants, giving you the opportunity to experience genuine Mongolian cuisine and the country’s unique dining culture. At tourist ger camps, lunches and dinners are pre-arranged and include 3–4 courses — soup and/or salad, main dish, dessert, and bottled water. If your itinerary includes stops at local roadside restaurants, you’ll be able to choose meals directly from the menu. In Ulaanbaatar, a wider range of cuisines — including Korean, Japanese, and Chinese dishes — is available upon request.

Special Diets: Vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free meals are available with advance notice.

In the Countryside: During your trip, you’ll stay in Tourist Ger Camps, Mongolia’s signature accommodation. Each camp features traditional Gers (yurts) with scenic surroundings.

Winter Tours
