Bogd Khan Mountain National Park is located south of Ulaanbaatar and stretches across 416 square kilometers, marking the transition between steppe and forest-steppe zones. Its highest peak, Tsetsee Gun (2,256 m), is visible from the capital and reachable by a scenic hike of about 5–6 hours round trip. The park is also accessible from Zuunmod, the capital of Töv Province.

Bogd Khan Mountain has been sacred for centuries. During the Qing Dynasty, official worship ceremonies were held twice yearly, beginning in 1778. Though banned during the communist era (1921–1995), the tradition was revived in 1995 when Mongolia celebrated Ulaanbaatar’s 365th anniversary. Today, the mountain is again honored with state worship ceremonies every five years, reaffirming its cultural and spiritual importance.
