Known as the world’s second-oldest Olympics, the Naadam Festival is celebrated nationwide each year. Much like Brazil’s Carnival in Rio de Janeiro and Germany’s Oktoberfest, this festival is one of Mongolia’s most popular and largest celebrations. There is plenty to see and experience, including traditional wrestling, archery, open-field horse races of various age categories, and the magnificent opening and closing ceremonies of the festival.
At 9 am, you will meet with your private tour guide and driver at your hotel lobby and then the city tour starts with visiting the largest glorious Gandan monastery and capturing the monks’ daily rituals. Afterwards, we will visit Zaisan Memorial Hill, a popular tourist attraction and one of the highlights of Ulan Baatar because of its fantastic views over the city. After lunch at a good local restaurant, we will visit at Central Squarev. There we will attend Deeltei Mongol Festival which you will see numerous interesting events such as parades of people, organizations and locals with deel (Mongolia’s traditional clothing), art performances, selection of top participants, Mongolian customs and tradition town activities and fair of national clothing producers.
Continue to visit the Museum of Mongolian National History – It provides an excellent overview of the history and culture of Mongols from prehistory to the contemporary era. The evening is dedicated to visiting the “Folklore show”. It’s a great chance to hear Khöömii (throat singing) and amazing contortion.

Today, the opening ceremony of the Naadam Festival takes place at the central stadium. It’s Mongolia’s most important festival and biggest national holiday, which allows travelers to observe and experience authentic Mongolian culture.

In the morning at 9am, head to “Genghis Khan Statue Complex” which is currently the biggest (40m high) equestrian statue in the world. You can go inside and enjoy museums, souvenir shops. Take a short drive to visit Terelj National Park. This is one of the nearest and the most breathtaking sightseeing from the capital Ulaanbaatar and landscape is impressive with magnificent rocky mountainous scene and a lucid river and green groves.
Once in National Park, you will visit to Nomad Family to experience nomadic lifestyle and enjoy tasting dairy products. Next see Turtle Rock – the symbol of the National Park. You can take a photo of rock and climb on the rock if you want. Also, visit the Ariyabal meditation temple - stand on the top of hill, you will be amused by the whole park view. Return to Ulaanbaatar and you will be transferred at a location of your choice.
